The thickened sludge is mixed with FeCl3 as coagulant. The Rhenipal B or C is mixed with process water ( average addition rate is 50% on the basis of dry substance ). Both streams are then merged using two static mixers. The resulting blend is kept in suspension in the holding tank for de-watering by a chamber press system. The resulting cake is stabilised.
Advantages of Pre-stabilisation
  • The higher the dry substance of treated cake results in less volume and weight thus reducing follow up costs.
  • No filter cake odour.
  • Heavy metals become insoluble resulting in reduced leaching.
  • Improved stability and ease of handling.

Reduced operation time of presses leading to reduced wear and tear of the equipment, particularly filter cloths.
